Main Street Bike & Pedestrian Improvements, Channel to Ridge

ETA is proposing a two-way bike path, left turn lanes at Asbury, and pedestrian improvements along Main St between the Channel and Ridge Ave, connecting Skokie, Crown Center, Washington Elementary, Main-Dempster Mile shops, and existing bike lanes along Dodge and Asbury.

Conditions on Main St today are hostile to vulnerable road users, encouraging car use and speeding. A lack of dedicated space for cycling, and missing or inadequate sidewalks and crosswalks increases the risk of injuries or fatalities for vulnerable road users (see video).

Capital funding has been allocated for changes to Main St, but has been delayed for years. We need your support to get this project prioritized in the 2026 Budget.

Fill out the form below to share your personal experiences on the hazards of walking, cycling or driving along Main St today and/or what changes you would like to see and how they would improve safety and accessibility.

Feel free to share this with friends and neighbors to get their voice included! We’ll keep everyone who signs up in the loop once the FY2026 Budget is released to coordinate a campaign in support of prioritizing the funding.
